Real Life Story: Life with Bipolar Disorder, Hyper-sexuality, and Infidelity

October 16th, 2017

00:0000:00

New, from the makers of Puberty: Adulthood.

"Live life as if you constantly have other stuff to get done."

Warning: Side effects may include depression, bipolar disorder, frequent urination, a calm feeling that is immediately interrupted by a crying baby, grief, love, loss, a sense of disillusionment with the world of competitive poker, a constant need to argue about politics, dancing, laughter, dissociative choreography, spending long nights talking while cuddled in bed, that one skin disease that turns you orange, phantom income syndrome, a glimmer of hope on the horizon, with a sense that life can and will get better, and dry, flaky scalp.

Our guest on this episode, Lisa, wished to remain anonymous, and we really loved having her share her story. She lives with bipolar disorder and has struggled to be faithful to her partner and was willing to share a very intimate part of her life with us. These are some heavy topics, but we felt really priveliged to be able to share her story. We hope you enjoy it.

xoxo,

Josh and Angela Skurtu :-)

Five Surprising Ways Obesity can Affect your Sex Life on The About Sex Podcast

June 18th, 2017

00:0000:00

Let's be honest. We've put on a few pounds. We got married and graduated college and then we got comfortable. No more long walks to class. No more pickup games outside the basketball lounge (that's a thing, right?). That added to long hours sitting up to a desk in a cubicle and the Extra Value Menu at McDonalds means our waistlines have expanded (your pants did not shrink :) .

Many newly married couples gain weight and there are some surprising ways this extra weight can negatively affect your sex life, and we're not just talking about the need for a pulley system. Listen in for the five surprising ways obesity can change your sex life and also some helpful tips on how to change it back on the About Sex Podcast.

The Relationship Dance - The Roller-coaster of Passionate Sex and the Mundane

June 11th, 2017

00:0000:00

Sex can be amazing, like a beautiful ballet, graceful and in perfect synchronicity.

Sex can be passionate, like a sensual tango of pushing and pulling, holding roses in your teeth while throwing your partner across the room (in a loving way).

Sex can also become a chore, like tap dancing, or like walking the dog or taking out the garbage, if the conditions are just right.

But the good news is that it's normal. Relationships go through different phases and outside factors and stressors can affect your relationship and sex life. You need to understand the dance to know when you or your partner are pulling away; that way you know when to embrace them even closer. Find out more in this week's episode of About Sex, with Sex Therapist Angela Skurtu and her husband Josh!
